My daughter started a little business. She sold her first thing, came running to me, and I asked how much she got to keep. She said all of it. That conversation is the whole episode.

So we walked through it.

Revenue is what comes in. Expenses are what it cost you to make the thing. Profit is what's left. She did not love that part.

Then the harder one: what do you do when nobody buys? Because that happened too. Most adults quit right there. A seven-year-old just asks what to change.

And the piece I care about most — why you reinvest instead of spending it, and why the whole thing only works if you're actually helping someone.

I'm putting these conversations out as a podcast. Not because she's a prodigy. Because I'm figuring out how to teach this stuff, and I think a lot of you are too.
